I am qualified (PhD in Cutanous Medicine) and experienced in academician and researcher with clinical degree (MBBS). I am currently employed as Assistant Professor in Molecular Biology and Genetics and Dermatology at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan.
I did MBBS from Liaquat Medical College now Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan in 2000 and PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) from the Queen Mary University of London in 2013. The title of my thesis was "Investigating Cell Senescence in Basal Cell Carcinoma Skin" from which I have presented my work in different conferences including British Society for Investigative Dermatology, Annual Meeting (2011), Manchester, UK, (poster presentation), Society of Investigative Dermatology's 71st Annual Meeting (2011), Phoenix, Arizona, USA and Hedgehog 2012 Signalling in Development Evolution and Disease Date, Singapore (poster presentation). The aim of the work in my thesis is to determine the expression pattern of senescent markers in non-aggressive and aggressive subtypes and using in vitro cell culture see whether this is associated with up regulation of HH signalling. During my PhD I have I have worked on different models including human tissues, mouse tissue and cell culture. The basic theme of my research was to identify cell senescence in basal cell carcinoma of skin and techniques which I have used include Immunohistochemistry (on human BCC tissues and mouse model of BCC and NEB1 Keratinocytes), tissue culture (RNA and DNA extraction and doing qPCR) of NEB1 Keratinocytes. I am also officially licenced to work on animals for research in UK. I have been offered two weeks training in vivo summer school in Immunology. The training for licence for in vivo work is provided by University of Glasgow, Biological Services. The training include 2 ½ days, 2 full days on 30th and 31st March plus a half-day for ‘animal handling’ on 1st April 2009. Along with this 5 day summer school in in vivo immunology at the University of Strathclyde through a capicity building award in Integrative Mammalian Biology supported by BBSRC, BPS, KTN, SFC, Astrazeneca, Pfizer and GSK 7-11 September 2009. Considering this information i am much qualified for this job. After completing my PhD in London I have joined as Lecturer in the department molecular biology and genetics at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan 26 August 2013. From 19 February 2014 till date I am working as Assistant Professor in the same department.
